Clemyjontri Park

On Monday I took my kiddos to Clemyjontri Park in McLean, VA. It was our first time at the park and we had an amazing time. I had heard a lot of raves about the park but I had been putting it off and just keeping to my favorite local parks. Well I am so glad that we went on our little adventure. We had so much fun there. The park is quite large, with lots of play areas and a carousel in the center. The carousel wasn't running while we were there. Right now it is open on weekends until the summer season when it will also be open through the week. There is something there for kids of all ages and abilities. It was designed so "children who use wheelchairs, walkers or braces, or who have sensory or developmental disabilities can have a parallel playground experience of fun and exploration" (from their website). There are swings, a maze, large playgrounds, and a racetrack to name a few of the play areas. It is a treasure! If you haven't taken the little ones in your life there you should definitely plan a trip. Be sure to pack a lunch or snack. They have a a wonderful picnic pavilion (which can be reserved for parties) and with all that playing you're going to get a little hungry. Enjoy! --Sally

There is a rubberized road/track all through the play areas. Some of the older kids brought their bikes and had a great time racing all over it. They have these cute road signs to help them learn the rules of the road.

Sunday in the Park

This weekend I'm going to be taking a day trip up to NYC on Sunday. I'll be assisting Heather Forbes on a day of family sessions in Central Park. I'm really looking forward to working with Heather. We met at the Love Affair Workshop. Heather is an amazing baby photographer based out of San Francisco but also does sessions in NYC. She is currently working on her book about taking gorgeous pictures of your baby that will be published soon. Matt & Cathy

Meet Cathy and Matt. They are recently engaged and planning a winter 2009 wedding. We met up last Sunday to get an engagement session with the Cherry Blossoms. They braved the elements of a rainy DC day, not too mention a ton of tourists! We had a great time--they had such a good sense of humor and had me laughing most of the session. Heirloom Monograms

I'm not a Southerner by birth, but I did marry a Southerner so I'm guessing that's why I can't get enough of southern accents, monogramming, and smocked dresses on little girls. I find monogrammed kids' outfits, towels, and linens to be oh-so charming. I like the hint of a personal touch on my belongings. My friend Jamie has been my go-to monogramming person since she started her business. Her blog has some great gift ideas for baby showers, weddings, and teachers. This is one Southernism I embrace happily. Sweet tea on the other hand is a whole other story. Skip the sugar for me!

Home repairs...

Our household has been a little crazy the last week. We're having some home repairs being done and they are just getting wrapped up. It has kept me a little busy and away from my blogging. Here is a sneak peek at a fun engagement session I had last Sunday. We headed down to the Mall to get some cherry blossom photos. The blooms were still pretty, but we had to brave wind and rain. Even with the unpredictable weather we got some great shots. I'm still editing the rest, can't wait to show you more!

Engagement Session

Early Saturday morning I had the pleasure of meeting up with this newly engaged couple to do some photos at the Jefferson Memorial and the Capitol. It was a very cool morning but the sun was shining and we got some really great light. With the beautiful light and the cherry blossoms in full bloom it was perfect. Thanks for a wonderful session. Birthday Party

Saturday evening I had the pleasure of documenting a birthday party at a local country club. The party was such an elegant affair with beautiful details and a performance by Livingston Taylor to finish off the evening. It was such an honor to be a part of the celebration.
