Product Feature | Photo Storyboard

I wanted to share this photo storyboard. I think it is a great way to use sixteen of your favorite images to tell a story. You can also use colors and text in the squares to add some variety to your images. Print this one large! This one is going to go up in the nursery. I can't wait to see it on the wall.

I've got a couple of sessions to blog this week that I'm really excited about. I hope you had a good weekend. I had a full (but fun!) weekend. On Saturday morning I had a family session at Ft. Ward Park. The weather was beautiful and I can't wait to share those images. Sunday I assisted Andrea Jacobson at Tito and Courtney's wedding. They had a beautiful reception at the Kennedy Center so keep an eye out on the Jana Curio Photography blog for images from that event. --Sally

Inspiration | The Pioneer Woman Cooks!

If you haven't been over to The Pioneer Woman's cooking blog you've got to check it out. I've been following her blog for about a year now and I love it. Her cooking how-to's are gorgeously photographed. And if you haven't seen her daily life blog you must spend a little time there too. She makes a rancher's life look so cool with her colorful photos and fun descriptions with the perfect amount of dry humor. Enjoy! --Sally

Thank You

To all those who have served and are serving, I want to say thank you for your sacrifices and your commitment to our nation and its freedoms. Thank you also to their family members. Having grown up a Navy brat I know it isn't easy to pick up and move every couple of years (or less) and to have a parent gone for months at a time. I hope you enjoy this holiday and can spend it with the ones you love. --Sally

Something I love....

On a recent trip to Bellacara I discovered MOR soaps and have fallen in love with their distinctive scents. I first purchased some as gifts but liked the scents so much that I went back and bought one for myself. I'm particularly fond of the Moroccan Mint and will be returning to the shop to purchase Black Cherry Plum. I also remember liking the Italian Blood Orange, but really they're all great scents. I'm not one for potpourri, but I've left my soap down by my computer so I can enjoy the scent while I'm working. It isn't overpowering and overly floral. On a side note, they also come wrapped in beautiful paper. If you're in Old Town I encourage you to stop in to Bellacara and check them out, otherwise I saw on the MOR website that Anthropologie sells them too. Enjoy! --Sally

Ben & Cameron

A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of assisting Julia MacInnis for Ben and Cameron's wedding. It had been threatening rain that afternoon, but the clouds parted and we had the perfect sparkle of sunshine for the ceremony at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. Ben and Cameron were so expressive and such fun that we captured a lot of great moments. Here are a few of them. Enjoy! --Sally

Three days before the ceremony Ben's grandfather gave the couple his wife's 2 carat, square cut diamond engagement ring as a gift. It was so gorgeous. This is Cameron's friend's reaction to seeing it for the first time. It really was stunning.

I had the pleasure of spending some time with this sweet little newborn last week. She's already two weeks old, but still so tiny! I was able to put my new macro lens to use for some detail shots. Enjoy! --Sally

Headshots

Last week I had the pleasure of going into the city to do some headshots. I had a fun time and it was a perfect afternoon to do it. The sky was overcast, but had a little sparkle of sunshine and a tiny breeze. Enjoy! --Sally

Zoofari 2008 | Tasty Delights!

Last night my husband and I attended the National Zoo's annual Zoofari. It was our first year attending, and I think we may make it an annual event. It was a great way to sample many of DC's finest restaurants and some tasty wines too. Here's a sampling of images from the night:

The strawberry shortcakes from Clyde's.


The Palm had the biggest lobsters I have ever seen. They also had the longest line of people waiting for food. This guy's name is Ted.

And this is Curt. Apparently they can feed about 10 people each!

I can't remember who made this tuna, but I though it was lovely.
One restaurant featured frog legs, which was pretty funny since the theme was for this year was "Frogs & Friends". :)
Sam & Harry's offered mini-burgers.

Bobby Van's had steak with melted gorgonzola cheese on top.

A couple of things to remember for next year:
--Get there on time. Food starts running out around 8pm. My beloved Buzz Bakery was out of cupcakes by the time we got to their table.
--Wear comfortable shoes!
--Come hungry!

Jessica & John

This Saturday I had the pleasure of taking Jessica and John's engagement portraits. They are planning a fall wedding in Minnesota, but wanted to do some photos here in Old Town. The day started out rainy, but we met just as the storm clouds were passing out of the area. It turned out to be a perfectly cool May afternoon. John and Jessica, it was so fun to meet you both, thanks for a great afternoon. I hope you enjoy your images! --Sally
