Servio & Jackie | A few more...

Just a few more favorites from their day....

The frisbees up close:

Servio wanted to encourage really good toasts so he said that he would give Jackie a kiss based on how good the toast was. This toast was a really good one. ;)

A few moments alone with the bridal party for some post-ceremony toasts.

Erin captured these last two. Love the light and emotion.

This is Jackie peeking outside right before she heads out for the ceremony.

Servio & Jackie | July 5, 2008 | Marriott Ranch

Earlier this month I had the honor of photographing the wedding of Jackie and Servio. It had been rainy earlier that day and was threatening to storm right at the start of their wedding ceremony, but luck was in their favor and they had clear skies. Jackie and Servio are ultimate frisbee enthusiasts, (Servio proposed after one of their games) so they had a very playful and fun frisbee-theme. Their cake had figurines from their trophies and their wedding favors were custom frisbees. Many of them were in use before the night was over. Here are a few highlights from the ceremony and the preparations. Erin of Erin J. Photography shot with me and we had a great time. Jackie and Servio, it was a blast, thank you for asking me to be a part of your day. Enjoy, Sally

Their friends and family were so hilarious and fun to hang out with. This pretty much sums up the mood. Good times!!!

Couldn't resist a little fun with this sign.

A frisbee made its way into our "formal" portraits. :)

Sarah + Abraham | Sarah Tam

I discovered this etsy stationery shop on a design blog. I fell in love with the design and color palettes and ordered some folded notecards right away. I love the classic and elegant style. Here is a sample of Sarah's offerings:

(This is the design I ended up ordering. I'm sure I'll be getting more though! I think these would make lovely gifts.)

P.S. She also has a blog which you can check out here. Enjoy! Sally

Dixie Bones | Woodbridge, VA

While we were out running errands today we happened to be in Woodbridge during lunchtime. We made a stop into one of my favorite places to get BBQ, Dixie Bones. It is right off Route 1 and I think it has the best pulled chicken sandwiches in the area. It is like something you'd find in a small town: lots of kitschy decorations (see below -- the pig which greets you as you enter the door), patches from law enforcement groups, tasty food, and always a crowd of regulars. It is a Northern Virginia institution and according to a sign in the restaurant it is rated one of the top cheap eats in DC by the Washingtonian. Stop by if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy, Sally

P.S. Don't forget dessert, they have great homemade pies!

Beach House Sneak Peek

Here's a little sneak peek from my family session Saturday evening. I was excited when I took this image and couldn't wait to get home and see it on my big screen. :) Everything just worked well: soft light, gorgeous hardwood floors, and a quiet moment with mom and daughter. The light in the master bedroom of this beach house was so soft and lovely. We spent much of the session there. Can't wait to share more! Enjoy, Sally

An afternoon at the park

Earlier this month I spent a fun afternoon at a park near Centreville, VA with Monica and her family. Monica is a fellow photographer from Houston, TX that was up visiting family here in Northern Virginia. Since all the family was (finally!) going to be in one area she wanted to get some pictures taken. I was so happy to hang out with this family and get some images of them spending time with each other. Thanks for a fun afternoon! --Sally

This guy had an obsession with Spider-man! :)

Smoooooch!

I just love this shot. I love the emotions running through it.

iPhone

Last Friday I upgraded my old cell phone and finally got an iPhone. I absolutely love it. All the fun features like accessing the web, iTunes, and easy texting can't compare with the fact that I don't have to charge it every two hours like my last phone. With my old phone I would have it fully charged, make one phone call and it would start beeping because of a low battery. Sheesh! I'm so glad to have moved on. :) I won't say how long it took in line to get this thing. I made a pact with my husband to never tell exactly how long we had to wait in line. I mean after all, it is just a phone. Is it worth standing hours in line? For me, it was. And apparently for the long line of others that hung out with us too. As I left I saw complete strangers giving each other high-fives and knowing grins as they clutched their iPhone bags. My phone came in handy that very afternoon. I got a lot of amusement out of being able to view my blog and some of my favorite websites on it while in the pediatrician's waiting room. My old phone didn't have that kind of entertainment! Sigh. Happy surfing! --Sally

Sneak Peek | Julie and Mark

Saturday night I spent the evening in St. Michael's, MD for Mark and Julie's wedding. It was a crazy-hot day in the 90's, but as evening rolled around a cool breeze picked up and offered an occasional relief. I'm still catching up with all my editing, so here is just a quick sneak peek from the wedding. I can't wait to share more images from the celebration, there are so many great details and fun moments. Julie & Mark, congratulations and thank you for sharing your evening with me! Enjoy, Sally

If you would like to book a session please email or call with your preferred dates so I can reserve your desired time on my calendar.

Have a good weekend!

Thanks! Sally

Sneak Peek | Jackie and Servio

Last Saturday Jackie and Servio were married at the super-lovely Marriott Ranch in Hume, VA. I'm still editing their images, but here is a sneak peek of the gorgeous bride and groom. Thanks for such a wonderful evening Jackie and Servio! Wishing you both the best! Enjoy, Sally

Bobby & Meghan con't

A few more images from Bobby and Meghan's session. It was such fun capturing these moments! I had so many favorites. Here are a few of them.

A quick shot of the ring going on her finger!
Bobby & Meghan were reliving the proposal for a couple of friends who had been waiting around the corner. I love the joy and excitement on her face. :)

Love this shot. Meg is going to be a gorgeous bride!
